Photo From The Front

A quick snap from one of today's practice ITS matches.

Bad Luck TAG was having a very bad day.
This poor little fella managed a kill before completely locking down the objective with a suppression fire lane, making it virtually impossible to approach the objective without getting filled with lead.

I say 'virtually'. One lovely thing that Steel Phalanx poet and part-time hacker Thamyris carries is a Marker weapon - a two shot deployable repeater, effectively. I managed to land a speculative shot with the Marker over a low building, approximately an inch away from it. Hacked and immobilized it. It reset itself next turn, shot and blew up the repeater but not before I ARO hacked it again and shut it down, again! Phoenix waltzed into view, and then physically immobilized it by taking off three structure points and killing the engineer on it's braces. I then re-hacked again and possessed it just for good measure. I think the only bit we did wrong there, was the second hacking attempt after the first successfully immobilization... but at this point it was for the lolz and wasting orders so didn't really matter!

New Year, New Models!

The 30th of December saw the release of the photos for the next set of releases from Corvus Belli, and in my opinion a pretty sensational set of models they are too.

Aside from the fairly "meh" repackaging of the Celestial Guard, it represents ten other models that in my opinion cement CB at the top of wargame models podium.

Tohaa Gorgos Is Gorgeous

I must admit to having thoughts of a third army in the wake of the new Tohaa Gorgos model pictures. Now that is a rather awesome piece of sculpting.

There's been a bit of moaning about the stance of it's legs, but the fact it is so friggin' tall just makes it even cooler to me. I imagine the Gorgos to be something different to the usual TAGs; a monstrous alien creature in armour purposefully striding across the battlefield, coldly picking off it's enemies one at a time! Epic.

Scarface = MVP

I had a chance to break out Ariadna for a couple of games today, and I decided to use Scarface and Cordelia. Previous to this the only use of Scarface had been in a painful doubles game that drove me into the arms of 40k for a couple of weeks as a result (yes, really...). So today was my opportunity to actually try him out properly for the first time since I'd finished painting him.

And I wasn't disappointed!

The World Is Yours: Scarface

With a week off work, I decided to dedicate my time to finishing off some Infinity models. Unfortunately I actually only managed to get one done in that whole time. But at least it's TAG sized! Scarface (minus Cordelia).

The green is airbrushed for a gradient effect, same with the grey on the legs and knife and guns. Everything else is by hand. I used oil washes for the first time on this model and they worked really well, so much so I'm going to paint my Steel Phalanx using this technique.

Progress On My First TAG: Scarface

My reward for getting through the first 200pts worth of models, was buying myself Scarface and Cordelia. Once I'd completed 300pts then I got to paint it as a treat! Oh how a modern day wargamer needs weird motivational goals to keep painting!

Anyway here he is so far:

Green done (not that you can tell), masked off with Silly Putty ready for the grey bits. As they're quite large and flat areas (relatively) I decided to airbrush them to give them a gradient rather than just edge highlight.

More soon.
